For me the advantages / limitations noticed are as follow: SmartDNS proxy (proxy only) pros: - easy to set up - automatic update features available for DD-WRT routers - works with netflix (intermittent disruptions due to Netflix ban engine probably that kicks in sometimes) - works with europe / us tv channels cons: - intermittent disruptions noted on Netflix which "detects proxy" SmartDNS proxy using their VPN engine: pros: - fastest & stable of all VPN providers tested - easy and straightforward OpenVPN protocol configuration on DD-WRT - app on iOS does 100% the job - works 100% with European TV channels (better and faster than using just a DNS proxy despite the encryption involved) cons: - does not work with Netflix (when using OpenVPN) I looked on the internet for VLAN information but could not understand how to use switches, ports and tagged vs untagged to accomplish my desired result.Review: I've tested many DNS proxy and VPN providers for hours to test features & VPN configuration over different protocols in order to reach the best streaming performance from South Africa and SmartDNS proxy turned out to be the fastest but also the easiest to set up on a DD-WRT based router whether for basic DNS proxy or VPN using the standard DD-WRT openvpn client interface.

I see the explanation on that page regarding VLANs on Turris Omnia routers with Openwrt firmware but cannot make sense of how to configure the router. I think it bricked my router because the Openwrt firmware does not support the eth1 switch configuration which it explains on this page.

I tried to set up a VLAN using the example on the Turris Omnia website, but it bricked my router which I brought back to life using a serial cable. I would still want the Android TV box to use the Mullvad VPN and be able to connect with the rest of the network.

I thought that if I set up a separate VLAN for the Android TV box that I could turn off IPv6 for that device only. I have an Nvidia Shield that allows me to turn off IPv6 but my Android TV box has no such option. I am trying to set up an Android TV box that does not use IPv6 but IPv4 only. I am using a Turris Omnia router and Mullvad VPN which uses IPv6. Let me start by describing what I am trying to achieve.
